One of the best natural ways to dye your hair black is to use henna and indigo. If you are going to use this natural method you will first have to dye your hair with Henna. One thing that you need to know about using Henna is that if you have done anything to your hair with chemicals in the past year you need to wait until a year has passed otherwise you will kill your hair to the point you have to shave it off and start growing it all over again. Make sure you follow all instructions when dying your hair with Henna.
Once you have rinsed out the Henna, the next step is dying over that with natural Indigo. To dye your hair with Indigo about 10 minutes before you are going to use it you want to mix the indigo with water. You want to make a paste that is similar to stirred up yogurt, but it will be lumpy.
Next, you want to cover the work area because indigo will stain almost anything that it comes into contact with. You will also want to put on some plastic gloves or the person dying your hair will want to wear gloves because it will also discolor your skin.
Now place the indigo into carrot bags or even Ziploc bags so you can begin applying it to your hair. To apply it to your hair divide your hair into sections and place each section into a bag. Squish the indigo into your hair making sure you get it all the way down into your roots. Try to get it as evenly as possible into your hair.
Once you have gotten the indigo applied to your entire head wrap your hair with plastic wrap so that it forms a turban and leave the indigo in for 30 minutes. Make sure to wipe all drips away immediately otherwise they will stain. After the 30 minutes, thoroughly rinse your hair. It will take one day for the indigo to completely oxidize so don’t expect too much at once.
