Sometimes people would opt for somewhat permanent hair extensions, and this can be achieved by sewing in hair extensions into your natural locks. In doing so, you can get the service of a professional salon technician. However, you can save on costs if you are going to do it yourself. Sewing in hair extensions is made easy as long as you know the correct steps.

You will need the following materials in sewing hair extensions: wefts, comb, hooked extension needle or upholstery needle, and thread. Once you have these you can follow these steps:

  1. Dye the wefts with extension the same color as your hair and let it dry flat.
  1. Braid the tracks into a natural hair ahead of time patterned horizontally across on top and back of the head. They must be away from the hairline so it can be kept hidden. Figuring this one out may take some practice.
  1. You have to make sure that the braid is tight enough to hold the hair, but should not be too loose that might allow the extension to break loose.
  1. It is important that you choose threads that match your hair color.

Sewing in hair extensions needs patience and the correct steps needs to be followed. First you lay the weft next to the track with its tops against the braid and the weft’s hair hanging down then start sewing it in from the side of the track opposite the weft. Continue doing this until the end of the track. After which make a knot out of the thread and cut the extra piece of weft.
